Is Road Wrap the same thing as Saran Wrap?
Absolutely not. Road Wrap is a 2.5 mil polyethylene film with a water based acrylic adhesive that has UV protection.
Why can't I leave Road Wrap on for longer than 7 days?
When Road Wrap was being tested, it was left on for longer periods of time with no problems. For best results it is recommend not to exceed 7 days.
What happens if I leave Road Wrap on too long?
You probably will not have a problem. However, if for some reason you leave Road Wrap on for an extended period of time and any adhesive is left on your paint finish, simply use a rubbing alcohol or glass cleaner with a soft cloth to remove any residue.
How easy is it to install?
The six inch roll of Road Wrap can be applied easily with one person. However if you're using the 18 inch roll, a second person helping along with a squeegee is recommended for a much smoother finish.
Can I cut a roll of Road Wrap?
Yes, by using a saw Road Wrap can be cut cleanly to any desired width for applications such as motorcycles, jet skis or anything needing protection.
Can I drive in the rain with Road Wrap on my vehicle?
Road Wrap was designed for everyday traveling as long as you apply it according to the instructions. No matter if you're in a rainstorm or 97 degree heat, it will continue to protect from one road extreme to the next.
How do you insure Road Wrap stays on during all driving conditions?
To ensure best results, make sure that the vehicle is clean and dry before application. Apply product with a soft cloth on the edge of the slitter or a squeegee applicator that we offer. Install as smooth and wrinkle free as possible making sure at least a four inch edge of the product is securely fastened to vehicle. This eliminates separation or flapping while traveling.
Can you go through a car wash with the Road Wrap installed?
You can go through a car wash or a rain storm with Road Wrap. If there are creases or gaps in the film application and water can get under the film, there is a higher chance of the film coming off.
Are there any marine applications for the film?
It can be used on boats for transporting. It has not been tested on any watercraft for freshwater or saltwater marine transportation.
How does the film handle filled paint chips and can you apply the film to these areas?
The adhesive is pretty aggressive to survive high winds and rain. OEM finishes will not be a problem. No testing has been done on filled chip areas, however as long as you prep properly you should have good results.
Does the film stick to plastic? What does it not adhere to or hold up as designed?
It sticks to most automotive smooth plastics. It will stick less aggressively to textured plastics. It will not stick to any shine enhanced coated plastics.
Can Road Wrap be waxed?
Absolutely not. This is for temporary protection only.
Are products such as gas, oil, petroleum distillates detrimental to the film?
The Linear Low Density PE film backing is fairly resistant to most solvents & petroleum distillates. The adhesive is not. If these liquids get underneath the film backing and come in contact with the adhesive, it will release the adhesive bond.
Can Road Wrap be applied over vinyl graphics and removed without issues? Mustang stripes etc.
As long as the decals were factory installed or applied by a professional you shouldn't have a problem. Any new decals should cure for at least a week before using Road Wrap on it. The product was designed primarily to be applied on painted metal and plastic car fascia. Always test in an inconspicuous area before applying or just mask around the area if uncertain. |
